BASIC SPORTS FIRST AID

The 4 hour Basic Sports First Aid course is a fun and practical introduction to first aid in a sports environment giving essential knowledge, skills and decision making processes for all sports first aiders in this sector. It is specifically designed to meet the needs of students studying physical education. As well as the basic life support and topics found upon most first aid courses, this course includes key sports related incident management content, including sports injury assessment.

The course runs over half a day but the exact timings can change depending on your needs.

Course content​​
Primary survey and secondary survey
Recognition of head and spinal injuries
Recognition of bones, muscles and joint injuries
Bleeding and Shock
CPR Resuscitation procedures - single and multi-person scenarios
Safe use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator)

Course Certificate
Candidates who successfully complete this sports first aid course will receive a Basic Sports First Aid attendance certificate.
This course is assessed using tutor observation of practical competency. In order to pass the course attendees are required to take a full and active part in practising all of the procedures and protocols taught. This provides the necessary continual assessment opportunities. There are no written exam papers.
